I don't much care what the pundits – Democrat or Republican - have to say about President Obama's press conference last night. I thought he did a splendid job. He answered questions concisely and calmly, with an obvious deep knowledge of all the issues in front of him.
It stands to reason the right-wing, insurance and pharmaceutical companies are against him. If his proposed health care reform passes, it will mean less money in the greedy pockets of the aforementioned and the hell with actual benefits for the American people.

Anyone who believes President Obama is not an American citizen is simply quite deranged; or perhaps so full of hate and fear perpetuated by right-wing fanatics that their only response is to spew nonsense and ignore the truth.
Elected members of the right-wing will not participate in the business of serving the American people. Instead they spend their time – while on salary paid by the people – trying to convince the populace that the President is not an American citizen and out to destroy the country with his policies.

Predictable Noise
The typical guest-caliber at Fixed News:
Rather than report the news in a fair and balanced manner, Fixed News prefers to dredge-up a lowlife who feels "the Taliban can save us a lot of legal hassles and legal bills" by simply killing the American solider now in captivity.
Even if it is found that the solider in question walked away from his post, the extremism perpetuated by the right-wing once again sits square on the fanatical fence with little human regard for anyone who isn't as brainwashed as they are.

Judging Sonia
I've been listening to the confirmation hearings for Judge Sonia Sotomayor all week, impressed by her steady answers and relatively calm demeanor. Not even the most self-righteous of Republicans (re: Senator Lindsey Graham with the pantywaist-aura) seemed able to ruffle her feathers, although they had very little to fling against her in the first place.
Judge Sotomayor is perhaps the best-qualified candidate for the Supreme Court I have seen or heard in my lifetime of recall. The right wing may grumble, hem and haw but they know they have no concrete "mud" in which to credibly block her appointment. Besides, I believe their motivation in the hearings is not to piss off the Hispanic vote in reference to future elections rather than their mock disgruntlement over statements and judicial decisions she has made in the past.
I have always viewed the GOP as lacking in basic standards and integrity, but perhaps the absence of political direction within their own base will lead them down the right path this time.

Old & Jaded
Gee, what a surprise:
What is there left to defend in the Republican party? Their hypocrisy speaks loud and clear, and has for a long time in my opinion. The GOP is comprised of greedy politicians who prefer lining their own pockets rather than listening to and taking care of the people who elected them to office. They are also a predominant group of self-righteous fanatics who spend most of their time trashing President Obama because they have nothing to offer in the way of their own practical solutions.
How can rational, intelligent people still continue to support their jaded ideals and borderline extremism? It boggles the mind, but then nothing about the GOP surprises me anymore.
The uninformed and fearful seem to prefer hitching a ride to the nearest right-wing throng rather than using their brains to figure out the truth.

Right Wing Detach
When I saw this headline I knew it was connected to a Republican lawmaker even before I read the brief article:
I think it says more about the antiquated disconnect within the Republican party, not only with people in general but in all aspects of American life, including our culture and musical heritage.
The last paragraph of the NBC New York article by Scott Ross perhaps sums it up best:
Republican congressman Peter King from New York wonders why anyone cares about "a dead lowlife who may have been a good singer (and) did some dancing." He continued: "And to be giving this much coverage to him, day in and day out...what does it say about us as a country?"What does it say about us as a country that an elected official can publicly scorn a man who was never convicted of a crime and who in fact was acquitted of all criminal charges? Will congressman King do the same to someone in his own constituency because of the way they look or behave in public?
