Another Call Out

White House response to Charles Krauthammer's article in the Washington Post:
I've never thought highly of Krauthammer or his illogical observations, so the article is not such a surprise. Besides, he commentates for Fixed News. That says it all.

Witty Thanks

This is very funny but also very accurate:
My first laugh-out-loud reason was: "We're (not) thankful Dick Cheney has elected to move from his undisclosed location to the media spotlight."

Happy Holidays…

Church & State

In a perfect world, religion has no place in politics:
Patrick Kennedy has been barred from receiving communion at a central Rhode Island Catholic church by its bishop because he supports abortion rights. However, Kennedy can receive communion elsewhere (re: in another state).

I was born and raised Catholic, but do not agree with the Church's position on abortion. (See my post Pro Choice from 04/22/09). No religious body or individual has the right to direct another person's medical choices, plain and simple.

People who claim to be against abortion are given the right to their own views, so please return the favor.

Cloture Vote

Finally, the Senate makes a bit of progress:
Mind you, this is just a vote to debate healthcare legislation, not an actual vote on the legislation itself.

To see how your own senator voted on the issue, have a look at the MSNBC map below:

I don't understand why the right-wing objects to a mere debate on healthcare. Trying to send a message, are they? The only point I receive from their stupidity is they will object to any and all Obama-related legislation even as it hurts their constituents.

Dobbs-o-phobia

Is this man completely out of his mind?

I certainly did not intend to go on about this windbag of a loser, but can anyone honestly imagine the words "Senator or President Dobbs"? Good God!

However, importunate nuts from the right-wing might just be stupid enough to take Dobbs' delusional rhetoric to another level.

That's okay, though, as the more Limbaugh-Beck-Cheney-Palin types they throw into the mix, the better for the Democratic Party.

Healthcare Notes

The program Sick Around the World is a real eye-opener for those who still have doubts about healthcare reform in the United States.

From Frontline/PBS:

In Sick Around the World, FRONTLINE teams up with veteran Washington Post foreign correspondent T.R. Reid to find out how five other capitalist democracies - the United Kingdom, Japan, Germany, Taiwan and Switzerland - deliver health care, and what the United States might learn from their successes and their failures.

Another illuminating phenomenon is the National Association of Free Clinics program that took place over the weekend in New Orleans, to be followed by stops in Little Rock (11/21/09) and Kansas City.

The long lines of hundreds and thousands desperate for medical attention are just more examples that demonstrate the need for universal healthcare in this country.

Dobbs Be Gone

Oh boo hoo: Longtime anchor Lou Dobbs leaving CNN.

I doubt anyone believes the claptrap that Dobbs chose to leave CNN without a prod from the top. He was probably not given a choice in the matter, but considering he was at CNN for such a long time they more than likely allowed him to "leave" before his contract expired in order to save face.

A bloody liar and hypocrite to the bitter end…

POSTSCRIPT 11/16/09: Dobbs says CNN departure was amicable and CNN paid Lou Dobbs $8 million to quit.
